millionaire, whose eccentricities define him almost as
strongly as his accomplishments. He revolutionized
the fitness world with the invention of the Nautilus
Exercise Machine. He indulged his fascination with
wildlife by producing hundreds of hours of footage
for television programs. He built the largest private
runway in the United States to house his personal
fleet of aircraft. He saved hundreds, if not thousands
of animals from death in Africa. Inventor, pilot,
animal activist – His life is as varied and exceptional     
as you can find and yet you’ve never heard of him.

2005, the city of New Orleans was destroyed not
by Hurricane Katrina, but by the ensuing flood
brought about by decades of institutional failure,
compromise and corruption that led to the
collapse of the structures that were supposed to
protect it. America watched in horror as the storm
surge in the wake of Katrina overpowered the
inadequate levees and filled the city with salt
water, oil, benzene and sewage, some of it twelve
feet deep.
 
New Orleans residents left to weather the storm
saw their lives changed forever in an instant.
Thousands were lost to the flood. Many of those
who survived lost everything they owned. And
that was just the beginning…
